Google
Pay is a digital payment app that allows you to send and receive money, pay
bills, recharge mobile phones, and make online or in-store payments. Here’s a
step-by-step guide to using Google Pay:
1. Download &
Install
- Go to the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App
Store (iPhone).
- Search for Google Pay and install it.
2. Set Up Google
Pay
- Open the app and select your language.
- Sign in with your Google account.
- Enter your mobile number (linked with your bank
account).
- Verify with the OTP (One-Time Password) sent to your
phone.
3. Link Your Bank
Account
- Tap on "Add Bank Account".
- Select your bank name from the list.
- Google Pay will fetch your account details using your registered
mobile number.
- Set up a UPI PIN (if not already set). This PIN will be
required for transactions.
4. Send &
Receive Money
- To Send Money:
- Tap "Pay" and enter the recipient’s mobile
number, UPI ID, or bank details.
- Enter the amount and confirm using UPI PIN.
- To Receive Money:
- Share your mobile number or UPI ID with the sender.
- The money will be credited directly to your bank account.
5. Scan & Pay
(QR Code Payment)
- Tap on "Scan UPI QR".
- Scan the merchant's QR code.
- Enter the amount and confirm with your UPI PIN.
6. Bill Payments
& Recharge
- Select "Bills & Recharge" option.
- Choose the service (electricity, water, DTH, mobile recharge,
etc.).
- Enter details and pay securely.
7. Online &
Offline Store Payments
- Select Google Pay at checkout when shopping online.
- For offline stores, scan the merchant’s QR code and
pay.

- Check past transactions in the "Transaction
History" section.
- Google Pay uses fingerprint, PIN, or pattern lock for
security.

transactions, so you can track your spending easily. Here's how to check your
transaction history and manage security settings:
(A) Check
Transaction History
1. Open Google Pay on your phone.
2. Tap on the "Transactions"
or "Activity" section.
3. You will see a list
of all past payments, recharges, and money transfers.
4. Tap on any
transaction to see more details (date, amount, recipient, status, etc.).
5. If you find an
issue, you can report a problem or contact Google Pay support.
(B) Manage Security
Settings
To keep your payments safe, follow these steps:
✅ Enable Screen Lock:
- Go to your phone's Settings > Security >
Set up PIN, pattern, or fingerprint lock.
- Google Pay requires this lock to open the app and make
payments.
✅ Use UPI PIN for Payments:
- Every payment requires your UPI PIN. Never share it
with anyone.
- To change your UPI PIN:
1. Open Google Pay.
2. Tap Profile
(top-right corner).
3. Select Bank
Account > Choose your bank.
4. Tap "Forgot
UPI PIN" and reset it using your ATM card details.
✅ Check & Remove Devices:
- If you suspect unauthorized access, remove Google Pay from
other devices:
1. Open Google Account
settings.
2. Go to "Security"
> "Your Devices".
3. Sign out from
unrecognized devices.
✅ Block Suspicious Users:
- If someone sends you a fake request or scam message, block
them:
1. Open Google Pay.
2. Tap "Transactions"
and select the sender.
3. Tap "Block
& Report" to prevent future fraud.
9. Dispute
Resolution & Refunds
If you face any issues like failed transactions,
incorrect payments, or unauthorized charges, you can raise a dispute and
request a refund. Here’s how:
(A) If a
Transaction Fails but Money is Debited
1. Wait for 24 hours – Sometimes,
failed transactions are automatically reversed.
2. If money is not
refunded, open Google Pay.
3. Go to "Transactions"
or "Activity".
4. Select the failed
transaction and check the status.
5. If the status is "Processing",
wait for the estimated time given.
6. If the status is "Failed"
but money was debited, tap "Report a Problem".
7. Follow the
on-screen instructions to file a dispute.
8. Google Pay will
process your request, and the bank usually refunds the amount in 3-5 working
days.
(B) If You Sent
Money to the Wrong Person
1. Contact the
recipient and request a refund.
2. If they don’t
return the money, go to Google Pay > Transactions.
3. Tap on the payment
and select "Help & Feedback".
4. Report the issue
and follow the steps to raise a complaint.
⚠ Important: Google Pay cannot force a
person to refund money if the transaction was completed successfully. Always
double-check recipient details before sending money.
(C) If You Receive
an Unauthorized Payment Request
1. Do not approve any
unknown request.
2. If you get a
suspicious request, tap "Decline".
3. Block and report
the sender:
o Go to "Transactions",
select the sender, and tap "Block & Report".
(D) Contact Google
Pay Support
If your issue is not resolved, you can contact
Google Pay’s customer support:
1. Open Google Pay
and go to Profile (top-right corner).
2. Tap "Help
& Support".
3. Choose the relevant
issue and follow the steps.
4. You can also chat
or call Google Pay support directly from the app.
